MENCARI AKAR MUNCULNYA TERORISME ISLAM DI INDONESIA
Abstract
Penelitian ini berupaya menemukan jawaban akar sebab munculnya terorisme Islam di
Indonesia. Temuan sebelumnya menunjukkan bahwa terorisme Islam muncul sebagai upaya
konter dominansi terhadap Barat. Temuan ini mematahkan asumsi sebelumnya bahwa
teorisme Islam muncul karena benturan nilai dua peradaban, yaitu Islam dengan Barat.
Terorisme di Timur Tengah lebih menujukkan ketidaksukaannya atas intervensi dan
dominansi Barat yang muncul di Timur Tengah. Kondisi Timur Tengah ini berbeda dengan
kondisi di Indonesia. Di samping terjadi konflik antaragama, intervensi asing (Amerika)
terhadap Indonesia juga terjadi. Penelitian lebih lanjut diperlukan untuk menjawab
kejelasan akar sebab munculnya terorisme di Indonesia. Penelitian dilakukan dalam bentuk
FGD dan wawancara pada 40 orang tahanan dan mantan tahanan teroris. Hasil penelitian
menunjukkan bahwa kemunculan terorisme di Indonesia dipicu oleh tiga sebab, yaitu kondisi
konflik, kondisi sosial yang tidak baik, dan terampasnya akses politik dan ekonomi Muslim di
Indonesia.

Abstract
The aim of this research is to find out the answer of the root effect of Islam terrorism rising in
Indonesia. Previous findings show that Islam terorism is rising as a counter of West
dominance. This finding broke the assumption that the Islam terrorism rising because of the
clash of two civilization, Islam and the West. Terrorism in Middle East shows the negative
response as the West intervention and domination. The situation happened in Middle East is
difference from what happened in Indonesia. Besides inter religion conflict, intervention from
America to Indonesia also become one of the reason. The next research is needed to find out
the truly root of the Islam terrorism rising in Indonesia. This research is collected data by
focus group discussion and interview with 40 inmates and former terrorist inmates. The
result shows that the rising of terorism in Indonesia happened for three reasons such as
conflict condition, the bad social condition, and taken away of economic and political access
of the Muslims in Indonesia.
